Weekly Vocab 1/7/14

Flash Lamp: A device that ignites flash powder, which in turn produces light for indoor photography.




Arc Lamp: A electric lamp that produces light based on the gas inside. Made from a glass bulb and two carbon or tungsten electrodes, these lamps contain a gas that conducts the electricity to produce light.


    
Yablochkov Candle: A type of electric arc lamp that was invented by Pavel Yablochkov. With a fuse on top of two carbon lights, these lights consume the carbon and continues to burn until it is extinguished or it runs out of carbon electrodes.




Triptych: a three sectioned painting or picture, it generally contains one large section enclosed by two smaller ones.
